Move your Excel macros to Google Sheets
A free report shows which of your macros will work in Google Sheets before you spend anything. Then, if you want, we do the conversion for a fixed price.
Last updated 25 October 2026. The same page as a PDF (Letter), to send or print.
Why your macros stop
- The buttons stop working. Google Sheets imports an .xlsm, but its macros are Apps Script, kept in a script bound to the sheet, not VBA [1]. Every macro has to be rewritten.
- Google’s own converter is not on most plans. Its Macro Converter says: “You must have a Google Workspace Enterprise Plus account or a Google Workspace for Education Plus account.” Business Starter, Standard and Plus are not on that list [2].
- Pasting code into an AI is not an inventory. On Business Standard and Plus, once an admin turns it on, Gemini in the Apps Script editor works on “the active file open in the Apps Script editor”: the code in front of it, not your workbook [3].
What you get first: a free report
- Upload an .xlsm, .xls or .xlsb, up to 25 MB. No account, no email address, no card.
- Every macro graded Green (converts automatically), Amber (converts, but behaves a little differently) or Red (no equivalent in Google Sheets, so it is rebuilt by hand), with the line number and the reason for everything that is not Green.
- The buttons and controls on your sheets, and what Google Sheets’ own import changes, in plain words.
- A printable page and a PDF for whoever signs off the budget. See a sample report.
How the fixed price works
- Your report shows a fixed price for your workbook: Small $300 (up to 4 hours of work), Medium $750 (up to 10), Large $1,500 (up to 20); larger jobs at $75 an hour, still a fixed price.
- Ask for the written plan: every macro, and what will be done to it. A person writes it, and nothing is charged unless you accept it.
- We rebuild the macros in Apps Script in a Google Sheet, test them on a copy of your workbook, and hand it over with a note on what changed. Anything that cannot run in Google Sheets at all is agreed with you first and quoted separately.
Who is behind it
MacroBridge is built and run by Mason Obegi, a software engineer, through Obegi Software LLC in Camas, Washington. Questions go to [email protected]. It is not affiliated with Google or Microsoft.
How your files are handled
- Your workbook is read on our server so the VBA can be taken out of it. It is deleted automatically 72 hours after upload, or straight away from your report.
- The report stays at a private address until you delete it. It holds names, grades and the short lines of code it quotes, never the workbook or a cell’s value. Nothing is shared or used to train anything.
